Women’s Awareness Week!

• Bookmarks: 29604

Women’s Awareness Week begins on March 5th! Morning songs for this week will be all about women empowerment, such as Run the World (Girls) by Beyoncé, Most Girls by Hailee Steinfeld and Sit Still Look Pretty by Daya.

March 8th is known as International Women’s Day and is celebrated in many countries such as Russia, China, and Vietnam. During homeroom on 8th March, Roots and Shoots will hand out wristbands to anyone wearing purple, pink or blue. They will also be selling raffle tickets during lunchtime with many attractive prizes, such as a 100 RMB Starbucks gift card and Brics Café gift card. With the gift card, you can get 3 items of your choice for free, or buy 5 items and get 50% off. The money collected from the sale will go charities that support women, such as women’s education or rights.

Jacky L., one of the coordinators of Roots and Shoots People, said, “March 8th is International Women’s Day. This brings awareness of the problems women face. Even though we live in a liberal society now, this event can raise awareness that students should know about. It is also UN recognized and should be celebrated.”

Remember to wear pink, blue or purple on Thursday!
