The teams played seven round robins and two playoffs, with the top four playing an extra round. The Guangzhou A Team competed for first place against Puxi A, while the B Team competed against Puxi B for third. The B teams were tied in the first half of the final round, 140-140, but Puxi B ultimately pulled ahead to win third place. The last game, Guangzhou A against Puxi A, was intense. Guangzhou A was in the lead for most of the game, but Puxi A raced to catch up. In the end, Puxi A won by only 5 points in the last tossup.
All three teams did well. AISG also did well in the individual rounds, with both Caroline Mao and Jacky Liu placing in the top 3. Each player improved from the Singapore Asia Championships. Overall, all the players had fun and are looking forward to a fun tournament in May in Atlanta for the 2018 High School National Championships. Joyce, an official from NAQT expressed gratitudes towards AISG for hosting this event and have expressed interest in having more Guangzhou Invitationals in the future.
