Author visits are a wonderful opportunity for students to interact with professional writers and to find out about new books. This September, AISG will be holding another author visit, with Brandon Mull as the guest. Brandon Mull is the author of the Beyonders series, as well as the New York Times, USA Today, and Wall Street Journal bestselling Fablehaven series. He is renowned for his outstanding ability to create new worlds in his books and to conjure up entertaining fantasy stories. Mull graduated from Brigham Young University in Utah in 2000, and currently resides in Utah with his family. During his time at the BYU, he also performed as a comedian. After that, Brandon worked as a patio installer, a filing clerk, and a movie promoter, as well as a copywriter and, sometimes, a chicken stacker. Maybe the diverse roles he’s filled have helped him become more imaginative.
Mull writes fantasy stories aimed for 5th to 10th-grade students, but many adults also enjoy his books. His books have sparked children’s creativity, and he is looking forward to publishing more books that children can relate to their lives. According to an online interview, he says, “I try to have issues in my books that readers can relate to their own lives so that even though they are reading a crazy fantasy story, they might come away with some useful thoughts about courage, choices, friendship, heroism, etc.”
Brandon Mull will be visiting AISG from September 5th to September 12th, and for students who are interested in reading Brandon Mull’s books, e-copies are also available in the library.
