Donald Trump’s Polls Unaffected by Controversy

The controversial US presidential candidate, Donald Trump, found himself heavily criticized by other competitors this past weekend, when he failed multiple times to disavow support from an important former Ku Klux Klan figure.

On a Facebook post published on the 25th of February, David Duke, infamous for his beliefs in antisemitism and white supremacy expressed his support for Presidential candidate Donald Trump.

Duke favored Trump over current POTUS Barack Obama in his post, arguing “If Trump is blasted because I have supported (but not endorsed) because I has [sic] a long-time non-violent Klan history — by that criterion Obama should be far more condemned (than trump) by the media for the fact that the OBAMA had no problem with a “former Klan Leader Robert Byrd” being his Democratic LEADER in the senate.”

Further down in the post, Former Republican Representative Dr. David Duke (his preferred title) attacked the journalistic integrity of media in general, labelling it “controlled”, “biased”, while also blaming it for various issues, especially the “hate campaign” against the former Klansman.

“I am the most well-known American who reveals the facts of the Jewish tribalist takeover of our media, the crimes Jewish predator banks such as Goldman Sachs and the total Jewish control over the Federal Reserve Bank (the FED), the Jewish/Zionist domination of campaign financing and lobbying in America, and the catastrophic role of these Jewish Oligarchs behind the Zionist wars in the mideast which have been a catastrophe for America.” – Dr. David Duke.

Donald Trump refused to properly disavow support from the laughable ex-KKK leader, though not immediately. Trump blamed a bad earpiece, and lack of personal knowledge and research on the KKK to avoid giving answers. “Just so you understand, I don’t know anything about David Duke, OK?” he said.

As you might have expected, Donald Trump Twitter was flooded, again, with criticism. Bernie Sanders Tweeted: “America’s first black president cannot and will not be succeeded by a hatemonger who refuses to condemn the KKK.” Marco Rubio, a rival contender said the controversy made him “unelectable”.

Later that week when asked about David Duke again, Trump said “David Duke endorsed me? OK, all right. I disavow, OK?”

Despite the negative attention (even within his own political party) and controversies surrounding him, it seems Donald Trump’s odds of being the Republican nominee remain high, his voters remaining loyal. In fact, CNN’s live Political Prediction Market estimates he has an 81% chance of winning (taken on March 4).

Donald Trump remains the frontrunner of the Grand Old Party, “winning” super Tuesday.
