In the past, ‘pets’ were simply regarded as animals people fed and took care of. Compared to the past, people nowadays have a tight schedule. This phenomenon had an effect on peoples view of the term ‘pets’. Pets these days are considered as a ‘companion animal’ that relieves stress and stabilize our mental status. Such as these benefits, peoples desire to have pets has drastically increased. There are two main ways of receiving your pet; visiting the pet shop or using the animal delivery service. Most of the people prefer the delivery service since it’s much cheaper and saves time. However, there are several flaws of the animal delivery services that we have to keep in mind.

Most importantly, animal delivery service is stressful for the animals. When animals are delivered in parcels, they are treated the same as mediocre parcels. Meaning that whether or not animals are in the parcel, the are not handled with care. Such as common parcels, the animals are tossed and thrown around during the delivery which is a taxing process for the animals. Unlike humans, cats and dogs don’t respirate through their skin but excrete through their paws, meaning that they are much more sensitive to the surrounding temperature. The inside temperature of the transportation fluctuates drastically in large amounts, which can cause skin deseases including allergy.

Territory animals such as cats, which only stays within their territorial boundary, can die through the stress of environmental change. Alley cats even fight each other to protect their territory, which shows us how important territory is to these animals. Urination and food issues should also be dealt seriously. Though plenty of food is placed in the parcel before the journey, there is a high possibility of the food becoming spoiled in certain temperatures and seasons. Independant animals such as cats are extremely sensitive in discriminating where they urinate. If they are under stress, they do not discharge, but keep it in their body, causing bladder infection which is a common disease that happens to cats. However, if they do urinate, the inside of the parcel will stench, which isn’t a welcoming environment for the cats.

As mentioned, there are several flaws of the animal delivery service. If you are planning to adopt a pet from somewhere near your house, directly receiving the pet would be a much better method for both the pet and yourself. We should consider once again if using animal delivery service is the right method of recieving your new family member.
