APAC Dance: Symbiosis

• Bookmarks: 642721

On November 15th, the AISG dance team is traveling to Seoul to attend the APAC dance meet. Our AISG team will be collaborating with Seoul Foreign School (SFS), HongKong International School (HKIS), United Nations International School (UNIS), Concordia (CISS), Taejon Christian International School (TCIS).

Fine arts APAC is different from APAC sporting events. Schools collaborate to put together a final performance instead of competing against each other. The AISG dancers will be attending different dance workshops in the span of three weeks to learn skills and show them off in their final APAC showcase on Saturday.

This year, the AISG dance team prepared a choreography with both contemporary and hip-hop dance, “which is very different from the previous year where we focused on hip-hop,” as Junior dancer Beatrice Mai said. Another junior dancer Sherry Kim also mentioned, “there is more diversity to our dance team now, we have a lot of contemporary dancers and a lot of hip-hop dancers, I think that’ll make us unique in APAC.”

“This APAC dance taught me a lot about locking and a lot more hip-hop dance moves.” Beatrice Mai mentioned, “I’ve also made a lot of friends, I think it’s a great opportunity for international schools bonding.”

“This year was a good year for us overall,” Sherry concluded, “we are getting better as a team, and we showed other schools what we can do.”
