Epic Games’ Most Epic Game – How Epic is Fortnite in 2022?

The answer is pretty epic it seems. In between the massive content updates and Fortnite concerts, the game’s never ending stream of content just doesn’t seem to be drying up. The sheer number of collaborations and innovative usage of Fortnite by Epic Games has even caused them to rebrand Fortnite as a platform rather than simply a game.

However, the biggest contributor to Fortnite’s success is probably their internet breaking collaborations with other massive brands and franchises. To list a few that were featured in 2021 alone: Boba Feet from Star Wars, Kratos, Master Chief, Black Panther, The Flash, Superman, Wonder Woman, Harley Quinn, Rick Grimes and Michonne from The Walking Dead, Predator, The Terminator, Ryu and Chun-li, Ripley and the Xenomorph, Lara Croft, Harley Quinn again, Aloy, Soccer Player Neymar Jr, Rick and Morty, Spider man, Carnage, Nick Fury, Thanos, LeBron James, Mike Lowery, Frankenstein, Ariana Grande, Chris Redfield, Jill Valentine, Jinx from League of Legends, Naruto, Sakura, Sasuke, Kakashi, and last but not least, Marcus Fenix.

This list is only the collaborations that resulted in skins, a cosmetic item that can be purchased in Fortnite that allows you to play as a different character, being added to the game. There are plenty of other smaller collaborations involving items and map changes within Fortnite, and Fortnite’s already teasing a new collaboration with Back to the Future, as well as recently signing a deal with Paramount Entertainment for rights to bring what many speculate to be the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles into Fortnite.

When asked about Fortnite, a Senior who wishes to remain anonymous, “I’m not a big fan of the Fortnite core game, but I do log on sometimes to see what Epic Games has managed to put together.”

On a similar note, Middle Schooler Tony T. said, “I play Fortnite every now and then and the collabs are always something to look forward to.”

Looking forward into 2022, the burning question on everyone’s mind is whether Epic Games will continue to push their aggressive collaboration based business model and it doesn’t seem like they will stop anytime soon. After reading all of that, it may surprise you to hear that I am permanently banned on Fortnite, but no game has ever kept me so interested in their next unexpected collaboration and content update.
