Last summer, the Pokemon Go AR game took the world by storm. For weeks, people roamed the streets hoping to see digital creatures pop up on their screen. As advanced as this technology seems, it in fact only utilizes the basic principles of AR code. AR coding can be taught to even the youngest of programming students. This course will be taught by people with a educational, or professional technological background from Silicon Valley. The course will touch base on several types of code such as, C#, Vuforia, Unity and Android SDK. The goal of the course is to create a game that utilizes the AR code. Computer programming has become a popular amongst students since the rise of AR video games such as, Pokemon Go, and has led students to lead occupations having to do with computer engineering.

The course will cover topics relating to programming, and real-world as well as theoretical applications for AR programming. In addition, students will be provoked to think creatively about the design of their code, and its use in the real world. These simple programming skills will help students progress forward in their education leading up to a occupation in computer sciences. High end technology colleges, such as Stanford D. School,  have a high demand for students with a great depth of knowledge in programming, but also the creativity to apply their skills to a multitude of situations. In addition to academic qualifications, Stanford hopes to have students that “seek out opportunities to expand their perspective.” AR programming will expand both a student’s knowledge of programming, but also their outlook on its uses in the world.

Teaching students about creating AR simulations, much like the teaching them about 3D printing will enable students to stay in touch with the technological advancements in the world. The world is changing as result of the technological developments that been taking place. Students are expected to make power-points, and create short documentaries on their computer. This use of technology skills will be required in their academic career, but such skills are quite simple to learn. As technology becomes more advanced, there will be a greater number of skills that students will require in school, but also in their future occupation. AR technology is currently being incorporated in most of the developing technology. Companies like Apple and Microsoft have already released technology, such the Hololens. AR technology is believed to be essential to helping people map their environment, and used to create reliable simulations for a number of occupations. For instance, if one planned to take up a engineering occupation, they could use AR technology to create a 3D representation of blueprints, thus making them easier to analyze. The world is becoming more integrated with technology, and it crucial that students stay connected to the developments in the world.

AR camp will properly prepare students for a career in programming as experienced instructors will make sure to provide the basics in programming, and build a strong base for students to work up from. Despite the programming skills that this camp will provide to students for future careers, these skills will also be useful for keeping up with the advancement of technology in the world.
