High School Union (HSU) is a community service group which strives to create bonds and relationships between AISG and other international schools in Guangzhou. The priority of this group is to collaborate and to communicate. March 24th marked the first event of High School Union. The schools that were a part of this event included Huamei Internation School, Clifford International School, Guangwai International Department, and Guangfu International Department. This event lasted from 10:30 in the morning until the evening, at our very own campus.
HSU participated in two events that day, the first being a visit to the Huamei International School where they participated in their drama, history and art classes. This not only allowed the students to interact with local students, but also to experience a local school setting.
The second event was the Game Night with the 5 other schools which was held at SP. During Game Night, the schools were split into groups, and played games such as Running Man (Name Tagging), dodgeball and room escape. When asked about the the evening, coordinator Iris Xu said, “The best part of this event was that everyone gets to interact with each other. Everyone was engaged and had fun.”
Xu mentioned that during Game Night, not everyone heard the announcements so the number of people in each group was unbalanced causing chaos during the game. When asked for improvements for future events, Xu said, “Next time, for Game Night, we will need to be more prepared and have a detailed rundown of what is going to happen during the event.”
Overall, the first events of HSU went tremendously well, there being no serious mishaps during the day. The members and schools are looking forward to the next big event! Despite being the first HSU event, it was coined as the best Game Night the local school students had ever had.
