Iraq Planning to Top the World’s Tallest Tower

The Burj Khalifa, located in Dubai, UAE has remained the tallest building in the world for 5 years now, since its completion in 2010. It stands more than 800 meters above ground level, stacking 163 floors in total. Without doubt, it has become an absolute stunning piece of architecture and a revolutionary advancement in construction as it has become man’s tallest structure. The shocking record of such height has been recently attempted to break by the undergoing construction of the Kingdom Tower, located in Saudi Arabia, planned to complete in 2019 and finishing at an exact kilometer above the Earth.

With the two super-skyscrapers standing above the surface of the planet already, a new contester for the tallest building of the world has planned to enter, located in the country of Iraq.

It is planned to be named the Bridge of the Gulf, and said to be 230 stories, thats the height of an entire skyscraper placed on top of the Burj Khalifa, and with a final height of 1,153 meters. The building will be comprised of four interlinked towers, built separately yet connected to insure any potential future catastrophes similar to 9-11. 

Contradicting to what many think, the city of Basra where the building is planned to be built, has gone through a period of peace and prosperity, rather than a bloody war-zone.

Although no specific completion date has been planned, as this building is still under planning stages, the building will serve as not only a hotel and office building, but also provide hospitals, shops, and even a transportation system for the local people of the city after completion.
