Starting on Tuesday, May 17, any current eighth grader or high schooler that was interested in playing tennis on the AISG tennis team in the coming 2016-2017 school year were invited to attend pre-season practices. In the words of Coach Webster, “Thinking about trying out for the tennis team next fall? If so, come hit it with the tennis coaches and tennis team NEXT WEEK (Tuesday, May 17 through Friday, May 20).”
Each practice ran from 3:30 to 4:30 pm at the Tennis School, which is nearby to the Science Park campus. Before each practice began, all attending players met outside the school gates at 3:10, ready to go. Then, the group walked to the courts together. They walked bak in time for the players to catch the 4:50 bus that runs each day after-school.
These practices were free for all who wish to attend. All that was required of the players that were present is that they brought a tennis racket, gym clothes, a very large bottle of water, and the desire to enjoy themselves, have fun, and hopefully learn something and get better at their craft.
Hopefully, these pre-season spring tennis practices provide adequate preparation for students who wish to join, and make, the AISG varsity tennis team. Next year, since AISG will be in the Asia division of APAC, our team is scheduled to go to Seoul Foreign School (SFS) in Seoul, Korea to compete in their ultimate championship.
For further information, or if you have any questions about next year’s tennis season, please email the team captain, Kiki Huang at 05huangk@aisgz.org, or Coach Webster at pwebster@aisgz.org.
