The PlayStation 5 was released to the public on November 12, 2020. The 5th installment to the PlayStation brings a new futuristic look to consoles.
The new PlayStation 5 was sold out in mere minutes. The console was released in 2 different versions, a disc version and a digital version. The disc version is going for $499 and the digital for $399.
The PlayStation 5 is larger in length and width then its predecessor. It also has faster download times and loading screen times and cuts the times in half compared to its predecessor.
The new favorite piece of equipment is the new DualShock. It engages the player by recreating an action like pulling a gun trigger and make it feel as if you really are.
The new PlayStation has a 8-core AMD Zen 2 processor, 10.3 teraflops of graphic power and a insanely fast custom SSD. To put it in perspective the PlayStation is almost like a high end PC and it is a huge jump from a PS4 to a PS5.
The PlayStation 5 is able to play the new game “Spider-Man: Miles Morales” at 60 frames per second in 4k. There is also amazing ray-tracing in the game showing the power of the new PlayStation. The PlayStation 4 is still able to play the game but it runs at a lower 30 frames per second.
The PlayStation 5 is the first to be dual compatible with older generations. It is able to play the PS4 games and use the Dual Shock 4.
The PS5 is also equipped with an internal fan system that keeps the system cool. There is a noticeable difference between the noise that the PS4 and the PS5, the PS5 is much quieter and keeps the PS5 cool no matter the game running.
An AISG expressed their opinion on the PS5, “Nothing has really changed with it. It has only had few minor changes and it looks very ugly. It also doesn’t meet the expectations I had with the technology we have. It is literally a PS4 with a different look.”
There seem to be mixed opinions about the PlayStation 5 many did not like the new design. It also was capable of being significantly better.
