Weather Warning in the USA

• Bookmarks: 782984

Severe thunderstorms and tornadoes are blowing across the United States of America, leaving more than 11 casualties.

This unusual weather threatens many of the Northeast states; from Tennesse to Texas, there have been forecasts of ice (including snow, sleet, and hail), thunderstorms, tornadoes, and floods.

Forecasters also warned citizens of icy conditions in other places, such as New York and Michigan.

Idaho and Montana are also under avalanche warnings.

In western Lousiana, the National Weather Service said that a 135 mph tornado ripped through the area.

More than 28,000 residents had a power shortage in North and South Carolina on Sunday morning, and more than 40,000 outages occurred in New York according to the PowerOutage.US website.

New Years Break has almost begun, and many students and faculty may take this time to travel or visit colleges in the United States, including myself.

This extreme weather may lead to delays or even cancelations of flights. At Chicago’s Midway and O’hare airports, 1200 flights were canceled, according to USA today.

It is important for people to keep track of the weather and act accordingly. Residents should check their phones frequently for warnings and updates, and drivers should be especially cautious of icy roads and low-visibility.

On behalf of the Beacon, I wish you all happy holidays, and don’t forget to stay safe!
