Brandon Lee was a member of the Class of 2020. A member of the varsity volleyball and basketball teams and a member of StuCo’s executive council, he played a major role in the AISG community during his time in high school. Now, he is living in Hong Kong and attending Hong Kong University with a major in Linguistics.

“The transition between HS and university was a big one,” he said, reminiscing fondly. “I really enjoyed high school at AISG but corona really made it difficult to appreciate it.”

He said that the transition was not rocky by any means, but it led to him being homesick frequently at the start. Although not far from home and family in Guangzhou, he was unable to travel back as a result of the pandemic. During his final year, the pandemic also resulted in many of his planned activities being cancelled. Everything ranging from the talent show to the final IB exams were cancelled for him.

“Honestly, I was pretty glad that the IB exams were cancelled. It felt a little bit dissatisfying to graduate without that feeling of accomplishment, but we all graduated regardless and with much less stress than every other IB year,” he said.

When asked about what he valued most from his time at AISG, he talked about his time on sports teams and his time as a part of student council.

“I’m really glad that the pandemic didn’t take away my time during the volleyball season. It’s my favorite sport and I’ve been on the team for years and gained so many valuable experiences. To be able to finish my senior year on the volleyball team was a special moment,” he said.

The impact that Brandon left on the school and everything he was a part of will be felt for many years to come, and we wish him luck as he moves through university!
